FAKE FLOWERS
Feb 13 2020 - Mar 01 2020
Chalet Farb, Farbstrasse 20, Saanen, Switzerland

«Per Morandi» / 2019 is the first sculpture imagined by Bertozzi & Casoni after a beautiful Morandi painting they used as a model. This work, and two others, were exhibited recently at the Museo Morandi in Bologna. For the exhibition at chalet Farb, they created some more pieces, presented in dialogue with “New Orders”, photos from Ori Gerscht, a contemporary Israeli photographer and video artist. Knowing that Giorgio Morandi painted only fake flowers, these tributes to him and to visible or invisible flowers captured at a frozen moment, have a similar timeless and immobile presence wether it be ceramics or photos.

Bertozzi & Casoni was founded in 1980 in Imola by Giampaolo Bertozzi & Stefano Dal Monte Casoni.
From their early studies at the Ceramic Art Institute in Faenza, their interests gravitated towards a dialogue with the great traditions in art and they nurtured a vocation for experimenting with sculpture, seing in ceramics the possibility of painted sculpture. Their work by now gained the interest of art critics, museums and mayor italian and international art galleries.
